Myanmar Paw San Hmwe

Paw San Hmwe ( PSM) can be cultivated only in two regions, Ayeyarwaddy Delta Region and Sagaing Region for a long time. Paw San is harvested once per year from December to January. Pearl Paw San rice is a bold, round grain and it isn’t very long at 5.0-5.5 millimeters. Nevertheless its length can increase 3 to 4 times the original size after cooking. Strong aroma, good taste and its elongation during cooking are the key characteristics of PSM rice. PSM from Sagaing Region also known as Shwe Bo Paw San is very special, excellent in eating quality, soft texture and with very delightful fragrance. Paw San rice is a premium quality rice of Myanmar.

It is famous throughout the Southeast Asian region as arguably the tastiest and most fragrant rice on the market. Awarded the world’s best rice in 2011, the variety surpassed Thailand’s renowned jasmine rice in a competition hosted in Vietnam when Pearl Paw San was declared the World’s Best Rice. To generate export revenue, Paw San rice is considered market-driven export products. However, despite its popularity, its production in Myanmar is very limited. The study aimed to reveal its economic benefits to farmers and identify factors contributing to the wider adoption of Paw San rice in Myanmar.

ISO 9001:2008 and HACCP Certification

The ISO 9001 standard for quality management systems is understood and recognized worldwide. Well-designed work processes contribute significantly to the quality of our products and services. An effective quality management takes into account the specific needs and perspectives of our business. Through its process orientation, a quality management system (QMS) according to ISO 9001 is particularly suited for all industries and businesses from start-ups to global corporations, and therefore, includes us.

HACCP is a vital framework in International food safety legislation and for good manufacturing processes for the food industry. HACCP stands for Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP). HACCP is a risk management system that identifies, evaluates, and controls hazards related to food safety.

A HACCP program can be implemented for control of physical, biological, and chemical risks throughout our operations. The plan helps assure regulating authorities and customers that we are taking every reasonable precaution to assure food safety. It also helps us to reduce contamination-related food losses and improve the design of new food products.

Gold Delta has applied and received the certification of SO 9001:2008 and HACCP from UKAS since September 2014. In order to have sustainable implementation for QMS system, Gold Delta will plan to upgrade its version to ISO 9001: 2015 in 2018.
